KUALA LUMPUR – Four armed men fled with an estimated RM9.7 million (S$3.12 million) worth of gold in a brazen daylight robbery at a goldsmith in Jalan Tun Sambanthan, a major road in Kuala Lumpur, on April 16.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said police received a distress call at about 11am.

“Initial investigations found that four unidentified men entered the premises armed with two pistols before robbing the shop,” he said in a statement.

He said the suspects escaped with 21 trays of gold weighing about 15kg.

“In addition, the suspects also seized a shotgun and a round of ammunition belonging to the security guard on duty,” he added.

Datuk Fadil said the case is being investigated under armed gang robbery.
